Client Quotes & Testimonials
Some quotes on the JAD Facilitation and Methodology training provided by Pierson:
Microsoft, Lysa Cushing, Group Manager, Program Management Office
"This is the second time that I have brought Pierson Requirement Group in to conduct training. The most recent was back in May when I identified a need that my group had to formalize their understanding on how to gather and develop solid requirements for global applications. We brought Joy in to conduct the Joint Application/Rapid Application training to a team of Program Managers. This team had varying levels of experience and as a result of this training walked out with a better understanding of how they can use these methods to work with diverse teams to gather input and feedback on requirements that they need to meet a global need. Through her solid understanding and knowledge of the topic, Joy was able to bring the group together and offer her knowledge and expertise from years of experience to this group not only in a theoretical approach by first explaining the approach, but then applying the methods as the group worked in teams to demonstrate what they learned. The team walked away feeling more confident and capable to reduce the amount of time previously needed to gather requirements by applying their new knowledge as soon as they returned to their desks. I did hear from many of the attendees that it was one of the best trainings they had attended in quite some time. Subsequently since our training, I know that Joy has been asked to return to provide additional training and there are several discussions underway for additional opportunities. I would highly recommend the Pierson Requirements Group."
Cheryl Randle, Manager of PMO Hallmark
"I hired Pierson to come into Hallmark in 2002 to train a pilot class for a new repeatable requirements gathering process for Hallmark. I was the Manager of the newly created PMO whose task had been given by upper level management to bring Hallmark into qualification for SEI's CMM- level 2 repeatable process. After Joy Matthews ran the initial training, I realized that Pierson had the ability to assess what our gaps were in order to become a top level organization and recommend solutions based on industry best practices. This proved to be a very successful project which Hallmark still maintains 5 years later with Pierson's Requirements Group. In the middle of the project, Hallmark was rated CMM- level 3. Top management then brought in Accenture to assess the process and make recommendations for any gaps in the process. After several months, Accenture's evaluation results stated that Hallmark was on the correct path and was already implementing a successful repeatable process with training that was customized where needed and which followed industry standards and best practices. Pierson has trained 100s of business/systems analysts, requirements architects, developers, system architects, technical leads and project managers with a number of customized training classes to implement Hallmark's "Quality Management Methodology". Pierson is currently providing the same services for Hallmark Canada. I highly recommend that you use Pierson?s training."
Rachel Horowitz, Statistician Project Manager, U.S. Census Bureau
"We thoroughly enjoyed our training provided by Pierson Requirements Group. Like you, we had very limited experience with gathering and writing requirements going into the training. We were able to take the materials from the course and immediately apply them to our work. The training provides many examples, templates, and additional materials that are easily adapted to fit your business needs. Additionally, when going through examples, Joy has people take on the role they actually play in the elicitation, which makes the process more relevant and applicable. She also gives a lot of practice with the different techniques, so the process is easier to remember and you can also find the method that will work best for your business. Many of the other training courses we've taken have failed to do this. Additionally, Joy tailored the course as we were going through to best fit our needs. She really took the time to understand our needs and spent more time ensuring we fully understood the parts of the process most important to us. We found the training to be so helpful we plan on sending more of our employees in the upcoming months."
Jeff Manhardt, PMP Project Manager, M&T Bank
"I worked with Joy in 2009 to provide Use Case Methodology training to over ten business analysts and technicians. Joy worked with me to customize the training program and provided expert on-site instruction. This training laid the foundation for activity diagrams and use cases that were recently audited and found to be the best my company has on record!"
Top Qualities: Personable, Expert, Good Value
"CNA made a presentation at the Chicago Project Summit 2007 on their transformation experiences. The title of the session was called ?Requirements Gathering: From Chaos to Excellence.? The objectives of the session were to share their requirements gathering process, explain how they overcame the organizational barriers and how they adapted and learned. Joy Matthews, from Pierson Requirements Group, trained over 300 people to get them to this state of excellence. They have released projects with zero defects!"
"The hands on experience and class discussions were great! The instructor was very effective and had a lot of knowledge to pass on - I like the learn-as-you-go setup. The class size was perfect- I would not recommend having more than 10 in any class. It was mentally stimulating - Also, the group feedback for each person at the end of a facilitation practice exercise was excellent."
"This was the best training I have received in my professional career!"
"Very informative. Corporate wide training classes should be instituted."
"The instructor is great. Material is well organized and 100% relevant to my work. Its relationship to our company's process is extremely helpful."
"The instructor's method of teaching is very interactive."
"I highly recommend this training for other employees as well as Business End Users."
"I would like to see all the other groups in IT trained in JAD and think the future success of our projects would be greatly improved by using JAD."
"This is an excellent class. It is refreshing to see a class realistically and iteratively approach all areas of the software development process. It is a true tool for getting the requirements nailed down early in the process and it promotes buy in from the business community because they are involved from the start."
"The training provided real world experience and insights from the instructor."
